Filtering by speed and connector
Filters are applied on the map itself, not from this page. Tap the filter icon at the top right of the map to set minimum power in kW, connector type, network operator and whether to hide charge points reported as out of service. Use the locate icon to centre on where you are, or type a town or postcode into the map's search box.
Charging speeds and connectors in the UK
A glossary for the terms you will see on the map.
- Slow (up to 3kW)
- A 3-pin domestic socket. Overnight top-ups only.
- Fast (7–22kW)
- Home wallboxes, workplaces, car parks — the everyday option.
- Rapid (25–99kW)
- Forecourt and service-station charging, roughly 30–45 minutes to 80%.
- Ultra-rapid (100kW+)
- Motorway charging, 10–80% in about 20 minutes on a capable car.
- CCS
- The DC rapid standard on virtually every new EV sold in the UK.
- Type 2
- The AC plug used for home, workplace and destination charging.
- CHAdeMO
- Legacy DC standard, mainly older Nissan Leafs.
- Tesla Supercharger
- Increasingly open to non-Tesla drivers, usually at a higher rate.
