How we work out the numbers
Every figure is either pulled live or drawn from a published UK average that we review regularly. Default annual mileage is the UK average of 7,400 miles.
Live prices, not guesses
Petrol and diesel prices come from the UK national average feed; electricity uses a published reference tariff. Both refresh hourly.
Whole-cost comparison
Fuel or charging, servicing, insurance, road tax and depreciation — the costs people forget are the ones that decide it.
Honest either way
If petrol or diesel is cheaper for your situation, we say so. No home charging and low mileage often means staying put.
